Megalonyx: the blood-sucking ground sloth?

I found this fascinating (in a macabre sort of sense):

Dr. Holmes Semken (a retired geology professor at the University of Iowa) and David Brenzel (a former outreach organizer for the campus museum) have set up a wonderful blog on Megalonyx, the ‘flat-footed ground sloth’. Ground sloths are another amazing yet sadly neglected group, at least in my opinion. Expect a ‘101’ post on them in the near future.

May the fossil record continue to enchant us all.
